On the morning of Sept. 10, 2009, three detained Pan Korean Alliance for Reunification of Korea (PKAR), South Korea branch, unification activists who had been arrested under the charge of the violation of the National Security Law on May 7 during the NIS oppression against the PKAR were released by probation.
On the same day, at 9:30am, there was the verdict trial on the three in the Chungjoo local court. They are:
Yoon, Joo-Hyung (42, Organizing Director, Korea Peasants’ League, Choongbuk-do branch)-2year sentence, 4year probation
Jang, Min-Kyeong (39, Executive Director, 6.15 Joint Committee, Choongbuk-do branch)- 2year sentence, 4year probation
Oh, Soon-Wan(37, Secretary, 6.15 Joint Committee, Choongbuk-do branch)-1year & 6month sentence, 3year probation
The other three in Seoul Detention Center, Lee Kyu-Jae (72, Chairman, PKAR, South Korea branch), Lee Kyeong-Won(45, Secretary, PKAR, South Korea branch), Choi, Eun-A(37, PKAR, South Korea branch) will have the third trial on Sept. 18, Seoul Central Distict Court(10am to 6pm).
Hard to believe any government is so cruel and unreasonable to arrest citizens on such charges.
