[friends-of-freedom-and-justice-bilin] Five Injured and Dozens Suffered Teargas Inhalation During a Protest Celebrating the International Women’s Day in Bil’in
Friday 13th March

The residents of Bil'in gathered again today after the Friday prayer in a protest joined by international and Israeli activists and groups. The protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners calling to stop crimes against civilians, stop settlement building and land confiscation especially in Jerusalem.

The protest was also joined by PFLP female activists and supporters as part of the activities for International Women’s Day. Banners calling for the release of all the female prisoners were carried and also respect for women who lost a family member to the occupation.

The protest left from the center of the village, calling for national unity and supporting the reconciliation process in Cairo. Also resisting the occupation and settlement building. The protest headed towards the apartheid wall which is built on Bil'in's land. An Israeli army unit was situated behind the wall and prevented the crowd from going through the gate, the army fired tear gas canisters to disturb the crowd, causing dozens to suffer gas inhalation five were shot with rubber coated steel bullets, the five Mohammed Alkhatib, Eid Alkhatib, Hamza Yassen, Abd Albasset Aburahma, and Mohammed Aburahma.

Recently, the Israeli army decided to confiscate 142 dunms from villages of Bil’in, Deir Qadis and Kharbatha bin Hareth. The Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in Bil’in rejects this plan and considers it a racist policy to force Palestinians out of their land. Bil’in’s lawyer was informed to try to stop this decision
