Our administration seems to be determined to enforce both the plans, no matter what,in spite of demonstrations and opposition appeals now being carried out by citizens again and again.

Takae in Crisis
Feb. 01, 2011
Below photos are from the Takae blog. The Okinawa Defense Bureau's contractors forcibly started construction work at the end of last year, and today, several dump trucks and 50 - 60 workers came and threw bags of gravels over the fence at multiple entry points of Northern Training Area. There are not enough protesters to stop the construction work, and people in Takae and Okinawa are calling for action.
For Okinawans' struggle against US/Japan's plan to build six additional helipads for US Marine Corps use in the Northern Training Area (Jungle Warfare Training), please see the LINK HERE. These new helipads, where faster, heavier, noisier, and dangerous MV-22 (Osprey) will be using, will endanger the lives of local residents and further damage the pristine, and biologically rich and vulnerable Yambaru Forest in Nothern Okinawa.
Telephone and/or Fax and tell them to stop it.
