[nobases-europe] Mapping the troop deployment to Afghanistan

'Hello,

Obama announced to send 30000 extra US troops to Afghanistan and asks his NATO allies to do the same. Several countries announced already to send soldiers or will do at the Afghanistan Conference in London on 28th January 2010.
On the meeting of the Afghanistan-network in Berlin on 16 October one of the agreements was to make an inventory of the military bases involved in the Afghanistan-war. It would be good to have such an overview available for press work on 28th January.

Therefore we like to start this project of Mapping the troop deployment to Afghanistan and the military infrastructure involved in this war.

On the
www.mcmilitary.org-website we want to make an overview of the European involvement in this war: http://mcmilitary.org/en/afghanistan_deployment

We also try to map the political debate:
http://mcmilitary.org/en/political_debate_on_afghanistan

We ask all of you to contribute or to send us information of the Afghanistan deployment from your country and the political debate on this issue. To get an idea of the end result we have in mind, you can look to an earlier snapshot we have made in October 2008: http://mcmilitary.org/en/war_starts_from_europe

This earlier snapshot had the obvious lack of information from several countries, as our language capacities are limited. By a collective effort to bring this information together, we can make a resource useful for all of us.

Please contribute to this project! If you want to contribute we can send you a login and password, and you can regularly update yourself pages on this wiki-website. If you do not feel like editing the wiki-pages yourself, you can send your information to international[at]bombspotting[dot]org and we put it on the site.

Links to resource-documents in your own language are very welcome. Although the website is mostly in English at the moment, information in several languages is welcome. The website also has the possibility to add translations.

This website will in a later stage be integrated in the www.no-bases.org-website and others, when technically possible.

Best wishes,

Hans Lammerant
