Jeju naval base business committee plans the ceremony for starting to work on Feb. 5

The Seoguipo Daily Newspaper and the Jeju Focus Says the Jeju Naval Base Business Committee announced on Jan, 13 that the ceremony for starting to work would be done on Feb. 5, while the Prime Minister, Minister of the National Defense Department joining. The Jeju special governor also asked the President Lee Myung-bak on Jan. 12 to visit the Jeju Island to encourage the naval base construction, when he was in the governors’ meeting in the Presidential House, in Seoul. Both newspapers say the conflict between the navy and village people are expected since the village people have opposed the naval base construction. The village people claim that the navy should wait for at least until the result of the administrative lawsuit comes out.
