Guam News - Guam News

Guam - A delegation of Okinawan prefecture members is on Guam as part of a fact finding mission.

The delegation met with lawmakers this afternoon in speaker Judi Wonpat's conference room. According to Speaker Wonpat the Okinawan legislators told her that Okinawans are still very opposed to the movement of the Futenma marine air base to the northern part of Okinawa. She says they indicated that progress on that move may be stalled. "They're saying that as things slow there they will definitely slow down here as well,” said Speaker Wonpat.

The move of Futenma has been called the lynchpin the the japan us realignment agreement that would send 10 thousand marines and their families to Guam.
