Upon his announcement, the Pan Island Committee against Jeju Military Base, promptly releasing its protest statement and criticized him that he was just trying to quickly finish task on naval base in any way and asked whether he had properly consulted the opinions of the Gangjeong villagers and/or Island people. And pointed out that the central government’s promise to him of the local development with a naval base plan was quite uncertain.
The villagers will have a meeting(s) within days and decide whether they would even allow the governor’s visit to their village to explain his naval base plan related contents.
The Pan-Island Committee has been collecting volunteers for one-man protest that would be relayed in the centers of the Jeju Island Cities from Nov. 18 to December 10.
